The Bennington Center for Artificial Intelligence is an independent academic initiative at Bennington College. We bring together faculty, students, and practitioners to think carefully about artificial intelligence: its capabilities, its limits, and its consequences.
Why now?
AI technology sometimes seems like it is moving faster than thinking. That's not a reason to panic; it's a reason to slow down, ask better questions, and build the analytical infrastructure that society is going to need.
Independent by design
We're not chasing the latest promises of big tech. We're not a pipeline for AI jobs. We're a liberal arts institution that thinks the most important thing we can offer is the freedom to think clearly.
Beyond campus
We are seeking to work with Vermont educators, nonprofits, and regional partners to extend AI literacy beyond the college. AI is serious question that is impacting our college, our region, and our world.
